Chapter 8: The Grand Escape
Every day, the four friends had to take Puffer Fish out of her tank and refill the tank because the water became dirty.
Their main problem was that the iceberg was rapidly melting so their space kept shrinking and becoming smaller. They needed a plan to escape to somewhere but where could they go?
Finally, they had an idea. They should try to go to another planet. They had learnt that Mars was the closest to Earth in distance. So, they decided to signal people in Mars to see if they would help them.
The people in Mars refused to help. They said they need payment. None of them had any money. They thought they might have to sell their small piece of iceberg. However, that was letting away so it would not get them much money.
That very night they hatched a plan. The plan was to find a tree, break it and give the wood of the tree to the people in Mars instead of money because wood was rare in Mars and very expensive in Mars.
Porcupine quickly scuttled away onto land and uprooted the largest tree he could find. Then with great difficulty he managed to swim back with it to the iceberg.
Now, all they needed to do was to bite the leaves off. That was easy for them and in no time they had made the tree smooth and bare. They were ready to call Mars with their new offering.
They called folks in Mars and they came and took the tree as payment for bringing the four of them to Mars to live.
