Chapter 1: Big Energy Day
One sunny morning on Sesame Street, Big Bird woke up feeling extra excited. “Today,” he said to himself, “I’m going to have the biggest energy anyone’s ever seen!”
He fluffed up his feathers, straightened his legs, and stretched his wings so wide they nearly touched both sides of his nest. “This is my day!” he cheered.
As soon as he stepped outside, everyone noticed.
“Wow, Big Bird!” said Elmo. “You look super sparkly today!”
“I feel it too, Elmo!” Big Bird beamed. “It’s my Big Energy Day!”
First, he helped Cookie Monster carry a giant box of cookies to Hooper’s Store, all while singing a song about how strong and cheerful he felt. Then, he taught Baby Bear how to flap his arms to make the biggest breeze. Even Oscar peeked out of his can and grumbled, “You’re so loud and sunny, Bird, it’s giving me a headache!” — which Big Bird took as a compliment.
By the afternoon, Big Bird was leading the whole street in a dance parade. Abby Cadabby sprinkled a little sparkle dust on him, and the parade wound around Sesame Street with everyone clapping, laughing, and dancing behind Big Bird, who kept shouting, “BIG ENERGY! BIG ENERGY!”
When the sun started to set, Big Bird sat down in his nest with a happy sigh.
“Wow,” he said. “I really did have the biggest energy today.”
And as he drifted off to sleep, the whole street seemed just a little brighter than usual — thanks to Big Bird’s big heart and big energy.
